About Liam

Irish-born Liam Tomlin is a multiple-awarded chef, restauranteur and cookbook author. His restaurant, Banc, in Sydney, Australia, was opened in 1997. It garnered the coveted ‘3 Hats Award’ and was named Sydney’s restaurant of the year in 2001. In 2000, Liam was recognised by British Airways when he was appointed as a member of their prestigious Taste Team.

Liam moved to Cape Town, South Africa, in 2004, where his consultancy business has assisted clients, including major retailers, leading hotels, restaurants and wine estates on a variety of projects.

In 2010, Liam opened Chefs Warehouse and Cookery School in the heart of Cape Town’s CBD.

Berdine Neethling - Project Manager

Berdine holds a BA in Communications from North-West University’s Potchefstroom campus. The Paarl native is passionate about events planning and has completed several diplomas in this discipline, including wedding planning, general management and arts management.

The Liam Tomlin Food culinary studio offers culinary enthusiasts of all ages a wide range of classes, ranging from morning sessions to themed courses, presented by acclaimed chefs and artisans. They also host international guest chefs from around the world during the year, whose demonstrations are open for all to attend.

The retail shop complements the culinary studio's cooking classes, demonstration lunches and other food events.

Stocking premier brands such as Le Creuset, Bodum, Riedel, Staub, Shun and much more, the shop has a unique collection of local and imported cookware, knives, cutlery and kitchen tools.

With over 350 different titles, the selection of cookbooks at Liam Tomlin Food is truly inspirational. Liam and his team have sourced and imported some of the world's best and most beautiful cookbooks on every subject imaginable.

From Cape Town, follow the N1 in the direction of Paarl. Turn left at the Klapmuts turn-off and immediately right into the R44. Approximately 500m after the Klapmuts turn, take the Simondium turn-off and follow the road which leads to the R45. Turn right into the R45. Leopard's Leap is situated on the left.
